London (October 21, 2025) – A new trailer and poster for 20th Century Studios’ “Ella McCay,” the upcoming comedy from Oscar® and Emmy Award®-winning writer, director and producer James L. Brooks (“As Good as It Gets,” “Terms of Endearment,” “Broadcast News,” “The Simpsons”), debuts today.
The original film releases in cinemas nationwide on December 12, 2025 and features an all-star ensemble including Emma Mackey (“Barbie”), Oscar® winner Jamie Lee Curtis (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”), Jack Lowden (“Slow Horses”), Kumail Nanjiani (“The Big Sick”), Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”), Spike Fearn (“Alien Romulus”), Julie Kavner (“The Simpsons”), Rebecca Hall (“Christine”), Becky Ann Baker (“Girls”) and Joey Brooks (“Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”), with Albert Brooks (“Broadcast News”) and Woody Harrelson (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”).
In this new trailer, audiences get a closer look at the upcoming comedy in which Emma Mackey plays Ella McCay, an idealistic young woman, who juggles her family and work life in a story about the people you love and how to survive them.
James L. Brooks states, “My goal for this movie was to pay tribute, as best I could, to the golden age of movie comedy, with the same zany spirit of that era. I was lucky enough to have a dream cast who delivered this story about Ella and her family with an energy and spirit way past what I'd imagined.”
“Ella McCay” is produced by James L. Brooks, p.g.a., Richard Sakai, p.g.a., Julie Ansell, p.g.a. and Jennifer Brooks, executive produced by Colby Pines, Seth William Meier and Amy Brooks, and features original music by Hans Zimmer.
