The latest Marvel Studios’ release debuted at Number 1 at the UK & Ireland Box Office taking £12.28M ($14.6M) in its opening weekend (including Thursday)
Tuesday, July 12: Marvel Studios’ THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER secured the No.1 spot in the UK & Ireland box office its opening 4 day weekend. This marks the fourth biggest launch of 2022. The latest instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe opened in UK cinemas on July 7.
The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Taika Waititi and Russell Crowe, directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum. Marvel Studios’ next instalment BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER is due to release on November 11.
Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Love and Thunder” finds the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – one of self-discovery. But his efforts are interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late. The film is directed by Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok,” “Jojo Rabbit”) and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum.
