DISNEY’S LILO & STITCH RIPS UP THE RULE BOOK AND SURFS TO NO. 1 FILM AT THE GLOBAL AND UK & IRELAND BOX OFFICE
- Globally, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch has reached an estimated cume of $341M, after its opening weekend
- In the UK & Ireland Lilo & Stitch also debuted at the no.1 spot after grossing £7.98M over the 3-day weekend and £12.86M since opening on 21st May
- Lilo & Stitch grossed £3.29M on the bank holiday Monday making it the biggest U cert of all time and biggest Monday of 2025
Tuesday 27 May, 2025: Everyone’s favourite blue alien, Stitch, came crashing back to the big screen in style this bank holiday weekend with Disney’s Lilo & Stitch opening as the #1 film globally ($341M), domestically ($183M) internationally ($158.7M); also at the UK & Ireland box office after accumulating £7.98M over the 3-day bank holiday weekend.
The Walt Disney Studios global box office has crossed $2Bn ($2.083Bn; $909M Dom/$1.174M Int’l), becoming the first studio in 2025 to achieve this milestone.
Lilo & Stitch is the 3rd highest Disney Live Action global opening weekend (domestic three day) of all-time behind only The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast; the 3rd highest grossing opening in the UK of the year behind only The Minecraft Movie (£15.0m) and Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy (£12.3m).
Lilo & Stitch accumulated an exceptional audience response with a 94% “Verified Audience” Rotten Tomatoes score, “A” CinemaScore and 5 stars on PostTrak.
A live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, “Lilo & Stitch” is the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family.
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the Oscar®-nominated filmmaker behind the animated feature film “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” the film stars Maia Kealoha, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis. “Lilo & Stitch” is produced by Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin, with Tom Peitzman and Ryan Halprin serving as executive producers.
