CANNES, France (29 April 2026) – Disney+’s new “wrong-com” comedy-drama series, “Alice and Steve” has swept the board at CANNESERIES 2026. The six-part Hulu Original seires from the UK won three gongs for Best Series, Special Interpretation Award for ensemble cast and High School Jury Award in Cannes, France held at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, Palais des Festivals.
Star of the series Nicola Walker (“The Split”, “Unforgotten”), writer-creator Sophie Goodhart (“Sex Education”) and director Tom Kingsley (“Stath Lets Flats”) were in attendance to collect the prestigious awards. The first two episodes of the series were shown during its World Premiere at the festival on Sunday 26 April, receiving a standing-ovation from the audience.
Nicola, Sophie and Tom were joined earlier in the week by the cast and creatives of “Alice and Steve” including Jemaine Clement (“What We Do in the Shadows”, “Flight of The Conchords”), Yali Topol Margalith (“The Tattooist of Auschwitz”, “A Good Girl's Guide to Murder”) and Joel Fry (“Cruella”, “Our Flag Means Death”) alongside executive producer Andy Baker for Clerkenwell Films (“Baby Reindeer”) and series producer Frances du Pille.
Alice (Walker) is devastated when her best friend Steve (Clement) starts dating her 26-year-old daughter Izzy (Topol Margalith). She’s going to lose her best friend and her daughter in one fell swoop. Alice tries everything she can to end the relationship. Unfortunately for her, Steve’s more than ready for the attack, and what begins as a perfect friendship, devolves into an all-out feud.
A hilarious, messy, and complicated exploration of friendship, family, and love, “Alice and Steve” is an anti-romantic comedy that asks the question, how far would you go for love - or revenge?
All six episodes of “Alice and Steve” will be available to stream on Monday 8 June exclusively on Disney+.
“Alice and Steve” (6x30’) is created and written by Sophie Goodhart and directed by BAFTA-winner Tom Kingsley. Petra Fried, Andy Baker and Ed Macdonald Executive Produce for Clerkenwell Films and the series is produced by Fran du Pille. The Hulu Original series was commissioned out of the UK by Lee Mason, Vice President, Scripted, Disney+ EMEA.
